We then came out to see what was going on, only for us to find our porter struggling to hold the door against the bandits.
“That was when they shot him on the leg, he left the door and they entered into the hostel and shot him on the chest. We were there wondering what was happening, rushed into our room and locked the door, and climbed the wardrobe to hide, we were about 3 who hid.

“However, there was this door that a lot of students ran into, that was the one the bandits attacked, they broke the door, and carried some students. After the incident, we came out when we heard soldiers had come to our rescue, it was then we discovered that they broke into the girl’s hostel and kidnapped all the girls. They would have taken us too.”

Lemuel Adamu, another 200 level student of cybersecurity, who also escaped the attack said, he and three of his friends had to hide inside the wardrobe for almost one hour before they came out.

“The bandits came banging on our door and asked us to open the door but we remained silent and hide inside the wardrobe, all three of us. After some persistence, the bandits finally gave up knocking,” he said.

According to Lemuel, the operation lasted for about 45minutes to 1hour, before the soldiers came and asked them to come out.
