Buhari Speaks On Killing Of Ex-President Jonathan’s Aide

Buhari speaks on Killing of Ex-President Jonathan’s Aide on Sunday the 30th of May, 2021. He spoke through his spokesperson Garba Shehu.

President Muhammadu Buhari has  responded to the murder of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s aide, Ahmed Gulak, in Owerri, Imo State by unidentified gunmen, saying the perpetrators will surely be brought to justice.

The President through his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, said on Sunday that the murder was perpetrated by wicked persons “to undermine the peace, unity and territorial integrity of our country.”

“President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed outrage and disgust over what he called the heinous murder of Adamawa politician Ahmed Gulak in Owerri, Imo State by yet-to-be identified gunmen.

“Reacting to the development on Sunday, the President said: ‘I’m repulsed by such premeditated and gruesome murder of Gulak by evil people who are determined to undermine the peace, unity and territorial integrity of our country.

“Let me warn however that nobody or group of people who engages in such despicable acts should expect to go free. We will deploy all resources at our disposal to ensure that such callous and criminal elements are brought to justice.’

“Finally, President Buhari expressed his ‘deep condolences to the family of the deceased, the people and government of Adamawa State as well as his friends and associates all over the country,’” the statement reads.

Recall that the former  political adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan and a chieftain of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Ahmed Gulak, was shot dead in Owerri, Imo State on Saturday night, 29th of May, 2021.

He was murdered by gunmen around Umueze Obiangwu in Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area close to the Sam Mbakwe Airport road, in Owerri, Imo State.

Gulak was on his way to the airport when the gunmen attacked him and shot him on the spot, after tracking him from his hotel room to the area where he was killed.
