Police thwart the kidnap attempt and rescue five victims in Kaduna State. The defense team caused several wounds to the kidnappers and saved the victims.
The Police Command in Kaduna State stated that on Sunday the 28th of March its officers stopped the kidnapping attempt and rescued five victims.
ASP Muhammad Jalige, the Command Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident in a statement made in Kaduna.
“The police command wishes to inform the general public of its persistent efforts to end the menace of banditry, kidnapping, rustling, and armed robbery in the state and the successes recorded in the process,” Jalige said.
He said, “On March 26th, 2021, at about 12:00pm, information came in that some bandits who were about 10 in number, yielding advanced weapons obstructed Kaduna to Birnin Gwari road in an attempt to kidnap five occupants of a Volkswagen Golf vehicle with Reg.No DKA 539 TU, driving towards Birnin Gwari from Kaduna.
“On getting the report, patrol team attached to Buruku Division immediately took action, engaged the bandits in a vicious gun fight and successfully fought off the bandits who ran into the forest with multiple bullet wounds and saved all the occupants of the vehicle.
Thankfully the victims have since been reunited with their families.

Jalige also revealed that on the same March 26th a suspected arms dealer was taken into custody by operatives and one bandit killed. In addition, the command collected eight SMG rifles, one pistol and 85 rounds of 7.62 X39mm live ammunition in Saminaka forest of Lere Local Government Area of the state.
He stated that investigation into the matter had begun and the remaining suspects confessed that they were transporting the arms and ammunitions to bandits in Niger, Kaduna, Zamfara and Katsina States.
He made it clear that they were connected to the renewed collaboration between the Police and communities in the areas through prompt reporting.
“The Command is grateful for the awesome move and call on all citizens to help the Police in that area as it assures to keep them strictly confidential while acting on the reports.
“In his attempt to get the gains recorded so far in the fight against criminal activities in the state, the Commissioner of Police, Umar Muri, has urged his officers and men to work very closely with the residents to improve their attempts in tackling the recent attacks.”
