Eight RCCG members Kidnapped in Kaduna

Eight RCCG members Kidnapped in Kaduna on Friday the 26th of March 2021. All the passengers in the bus were kidnapped along Kachia Road KM 63.

Eight members of RCCG were abducted on their way to Kafanchan in Kaduna State, this happened on Friday the 26th of March, 2021.

In his response to inquiries, Rev (Dr) John Joseph Hayab, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Kaduna State,  confirmed the kidnapping, adding that eight Christians were taken.

Although the authorities have not made any statements yet, one Eje Kenny Faraday posted on his Facebook wall that “all the passengers in this bus are just kidnapped along Kachia Road KM 63 from Kaduna” (sic).

Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi, the Head of Media and Public Relations of the RCCG,  confirmed the kidnapping to journalists.

After being contacted because of the abduction, the Chairman of CAN in Kaduna State, Rev (Dr) John Joseph Hayab, confirmed the abduction, saying the RCCG members were taken away near Doka along Kachia-Kafanchan Highway on Friday evening.

He also said he received the information earlier because an unknown number called him on Friday, adding that he was made to understand that more than eight worshippers were kidnapped by the gunmen.

The police in Kaduna State have started a manhunt for the kidnappers of eight members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, who were abducted on Friday.

The PRO of the state Police Command, Mohammed Jalige, informed journalists that the police were working closely with the leaders of the RCCG in Kaduna to find out the actual number of those who were kidnapped, with their aim of rescuing them alive.

Alao Joseph, the Public Relations Officer of the  Kaduna Province of the RCCG also said the church members were kidnapped by bandits around 7 pm on Friday along Kachia Road.

He explained that the kidnappers have made contact with the leadership of the church, demanding a 50 million naira ransom.

Alao also explained that the bandits abducted the church members leaving behind the bus they were traveling with.

“The church has contacted security agencies regarding this issue with the hope that they will help in rescuing the members” he said.
