Obasanjo Reveals His Position on Nigeria’s Existence

Obasanjo reveals his position on Nigeria’s existence despite the country’s current security issues in different states, especially in the Southeast and North.

Nigeria’s former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has expressed optimism that Nigeria’s security issues can not lead to the country’s breakup. The former president revealed this information on Wednesday, April 28th, 2021 at the 108th Nigeria Baptist Convention, held at the Baptist International Conference Centre, Lufuwape Town, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

In his address, Obasanjo said he is very optimistic about Nigeria becoming better, despite the increasing security challenges. The elder statesman declared that there is hope for Nigerias’ future despite the numerous killings and abductions.

In the Former President’s words:

“You know, I’m an incurable optimist about a number of things, but particularly about Nigeria. “Epon agbo wa n fi ni, koni ja [the situation may seem terrible but we will not be consumed]. There will be light at the end of the tunnel).”

Obasanjo’s statement comes in the midst of the rising security in all parts of the country. While the north is constantly facing increased cases of Boko Haram attacks and kidnappings by bandits or unknown gunmen, police stations and security agents are under attack in the south, specifically the southeast.

Following the seemingly endless kidnappings and killings, some governors and senators have expressed great concerns about the ugly incidents. The prominent Nigerians on Tuesday, April 27, asked President Buhari to seek help from foreign actors to help curb the current security situations in the country.

Despite the many happenings, Former President Olusegun Obasanjo maintains his optimism about the future of the Nation. He encourages Nigerians to not loose hope as well because there is hope and this current issue will soon come to an end.

A lot of Nigerians may not agree with the Former Presidents stand, a lot have lost hope in the country, especially the victims of  the numerous crimes committed in different States.

We will keep you updated on how things unfold and the decision our leaders choose to take regarding the future of Nigeria.
