FG Congratulates Burna Boy & Wizkid-Grammy Awards
The Federal Government/ FG Congratulates Burna Boy & Wizkid on their huge wins during the just concluded Grammy Awards Ceremony.
In a press release recently posted on Twitter, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, spoke on behalf of the Nigerian government, has sent his congratulatory message to Burna Boy and Wizkid over their wins at the just concluded Grammys.
In the post, he wrote:
FG Congratulates Burna Boy & Wizkid, Over Grammy Awards. Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the current Minister of Information and Culture, has congratulated music stars Burna Boy and Wizkid over their Grammy Award victories.
In Lagos’s statement on Monday, the Minister described the much-deserved awards as fitting rewards for the duo’s ongoing hard work. He expressed that the awards also spoke for global support regarding the unique Afrobeat style of music that has set in motion Nigeria’s increasing dominance of the music world.
Alhaji Mohammed expressed the hope that the clinching of the prestigious awards by the two music stars would spur them to greater heights and serve as a source of inspiration for others.
The song “Brown Skin Girl,” which Beyonce featured Wizkid in, won Best Music Video in the 63rd annual Grammy Awards. This will mark the first Grammy for Wizkid.
Also, Burna Boy won his first Grammy Award with his Album “Twice as Tall,” which was nominated alongside four others, including Malian band Tinariwen and US band Antibalas, who has just won the Best Global Music Album.
These wins have generated many celebrations on social media, with their fans posting their congratulatory messages to the artists.
Celebrating the win, Burna boy, while giving his acceptance speech, said:
This is a huge win for my generations all over the world. To every African out there, no matter where you are, no matter what you plan to do, you can achieve it, no matter where you’re from because you are a king. Look at me now! Grammy Award-winning Burna Boy. Thank you to everyone!!
