Fear Arises as Boko Haram Burns Military Base, Shops, Houses In Borno State. This has stirred up so much anxiety in the hearts and minds of the people.

The terrorists who came in not less than 15 gun trucks burnt down the military super camp in the community.

A lot of residents of Mainok in Borno state and men of the Nigerian army were reported dead after Boko Haram insurgents attacked the community on Sunday.

Mainok happens to be the headquarters of the Kaga Local Government Area of Borno state.

It was gathered that the terrorists who came in not less than 15 gun trucks burnt down the military super camp in the community.

Some houses and shops were also burnt down by Boko Haram.

A resident reported that they were still in town shooting sporadically, the gunshots and the fire from the petrol bombs were extremely frightening, and even up to this moment, one can’t state the number of casualties that occurred.

The military authorities are yet to issue any official statement regarding the attack.

The latest attack came just a few days after the terrorist group attacked Geidam, the headquarters of Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe state and hometown of Baba Alkali, the acting Inspector-General of the Police.

Boko Haram and its branch, Islamic State West Africa Province, have murdered thousands of people and displaced millions in northeastern Nigeria.

In the past, the Nigerian military repeatedly claimed that the rebellion has been largely defeated and it frequently underplays any losses.

But, in the past few months, The insurgents have targeted the soldiers.

Soldiers and officers numbered in hundreds have been reportedly killed since January 2021.

Not less than 33 soldiers were recently murdered when two explosive-laden vehicles rammed into a military convoy in Wulgo.

The suicide bombers have been identified as. Abu Bakr al-Siddiq and Bana Jundullah, the group also reported that four military vehicles were destroyed.

Sometime in February, about 20 soldiers were also killed in Malari, located in Borno State by the insurgents.

The soldiers were on patrol to clear some Boko Haram elements in the area following credible intelligence when they were attacked by the group.
