PDP regards the meeting held by APC as ‘a waste of time.’ The secretary general of APC regarded the meeting held by PDP governors as misplaced priorities.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday the 17th of May, said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum meeting held in Ibadan, was a total waste of time that had no substance.

Initially, the PDP Governors had called on President Muhammadu Buhari to restructure Nigeria and organize an emergency meeting to tackle the issue of insecurity.

In addition, they advised Buhari to immediately send an Executive Bill to the National Assembly to work on amending the constitution to give more powers to states.

According to the PDP, they explained that taking that decision would help states work out modalities for proper policing and also help to improve general structure of security.

In a statement responding to the meeting held,  Sen. John Akpanudoedehe, National Secretary APC Caretaker and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), said it was unfortunate that the PDP governors chose to partake in misplaced name calling and abuses.

According to him, the PDP also failed to use a golden opportunity provided via the meeting to present meaningful and patriotic contributions to the curreent state of the nation.

He explained that it was disappointing  for the supposed PDP governors’ consultative meeting to turn out as  “a political jamboree and its outcome a waste of time, with no substance”.

He emphasized on the efforts and records of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government in improving the economy and delegation of powers was visible and unmatched.

Furthermore, he added that the administration’s efforts at enhance the country’s security architecture, governance and electoral reforms, addressing perennial farmers and herders clashes,and public sector reforms could also be clearly seen.

To further butress his point, Akpanudoedehe recalled that President Buhari on May 20, 2020, signed an executive order on the implementation of financial autonomy of state legislature and Judiciary, which the PDP governors rejected.

He assured Nigerians that the Buhari-led government would do it’s best to identify and partner with patriotic and well meaning individuals and interests in its determined efforts to make the country better while dealing with it’s present challenges.
