NYC-Based Director Akorede Alli Accused of Conning New Nollywood actors

The NYC-based director Akorede Alli has been accused of conning new Nollywood actors, the filmmaker is allegedly filming a Netflix project named ‘Ran Mi Lowo.’

Upcoming actors call out the New York-based Nigerian filmmaker, Akorede Alli for alleged mistreatment on his latest project titled ‘Ran Mi Lowo’.

Following the audition for the claimed Netflix project, some selected actors were invited to a crucial meeting named ‘Two Sets’.

While the meeting that reportedly lasted for about six hours was ongoing, they had their pictures and measurements taken without any talk of contracts or the characters they were meant to play.

It was discovered that Alli had allegedly thrown a major fit when some actors asked him about payment. “The director angrily shouted about actors acting as though they are doing Nollywood a favor and that in Miami where he is from, they don’t do things like that.

“A noteworthy actress who was also on the set equally complained about the treatment and asked if Sola Sobowale would receive the same treatment. Alli got upset and said he is the executive producer and she is not Sola Sobowale.”

According to the actress, Ali directed them to his production manager later on who said they would be added to a WhatsApp group where details of payment and any other necessary information will be communicated to them. We were told to resume on set located on the island the next day. We were also told to come along with costumes.”

After six days of filming without any written contract, the actors were paid the sum of N15,000 in cash and thanked for their service.

“You say you’re from Hollywood, Miami and actors get contract 24 hours to shoot or when they get on set, you & your team decided not to tell the actors what they would be paid, you kept on avoiding the question. They come to your set because they want were ready to work and after 7 days you give them 15k.”

“My goodness! Aren’t you wicked? What kind of Netflix commissioned project is that? Where does your conscience lie? Why do these people take advantage of hungry up-and-coming actors trying to survive? It’s fucking terrible. I hate injustice with all that is within me. People left their homes just to get 15k?”

Another actor also tweeted: “These people came with bouncers, ushers, just for the audition. Spoke plenty of phonetics… Walai I thought finally I have handed one Netflix job…”

Baaj Adebule an upcoming artiste as well also tweeted: “I was going to ask u who he was. But small ass freaking world yoooo…”

Attempts to reach the Akorede Alli were futile.  According to Alli’s LinkedIn profile, he is an alumnus of the School of Visual Arts located in New York City and the Pefti Film Institute, Nigeria.

Notable cast on the controversial project includes Deyemi Okanlawon, Bimbo Akintola, Omawunmi Dada, Broda Shaggi, Debo Macaroni, and Chris Iheuwa.
