‘It Was Over 10 Minutes Of Gun Battle’, Soludo Narrates His Attack
Gunmen had opened fire on Wednesday the 31st of March, while a town hall meeting was taking place at the Isuofia community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, killing three of his security personnel.
But Soludo, who spoke on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today where he explained how he was attacked by the gunmen.
“ Even when it was all over, it took about 10 or 15 minutes of continuous gun battles going back and forth, stopping, starting again,” Soludo said.
“By the time we all returned, we saw three bodies lying in the pool of their blood. They were the three policemen. May their souls rest eternally.
“Initially, I thought the policemen were shooting in the air. Until I started hearing people screaming and all and everybody just went to hide for safety.
“Just as I was about to conclude the town hall meeting and said finally they can now open up the floor for comments and answers, there were gunshots.”
While consoling the families of the slain officers, Soludo promised to give them his support.
He described the attack as mindless, stating that no political office should be worth the blood of a chicken, not to talk of human life.
Soludo also prayed for the urgent release of the Anambra State Commissioner for Public Utilities, Emeka Ezenwanne, who was kidnapped during the attack.
The former CBN governor, a member of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), happens to be one of the first aspirants for the November 6th, 2021, governorship election.
Meanwhile, the police authorities were able to arrest a suspect in connection with the attack on the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Professor Charles Soludo, in Anambra State.
Ikenga Tochukwum, who is the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, revealed this information through a statement he made yesterday.
