The Hisbah board of Kano state announced the arrest of Auwal Danladi Sankara, the Jigawa commissioner for special duties, due to an alleged illicit relationship with a married woman in Kano.
Illicit relationship With Married Woman
Abba Sufi, the Director General of the Kano Hisbah board, informed journalists on Friday, October 18, that operatives apprehended the commissioner at an unfinished building he owns in the city. Hisbah took action against Sankara following a report from Nasiru Bulama, the woman’s husband, who alleged that the commissioner was involved in an inappropriate relationship with his wife, Tasleem Baba Nabegu, the mother of his two children.
Auwal Danladi Sankara, the Commissioner of Special Duties in Jigawa State, was apprehended by the Kano State Hisbah command for reportedly engaging in an adulterous relationship with a married woman, Tasleem Baba Nabegu, who has two children. The arrest was confirmed by Hisbah Director General, Abba Sufi, who stated that Sankara was apprehended in the act with the woman in his unfinished building ¹.
Reports indicate that Nasiru Bulama, the woman’s husband, lodged a complaint with the Kano State Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Hisbah Board, alleging that Sankara was involved in an illicit affair with his wife ¹. The Hisbah Board had been monitoring Sankara in light of the complaints lodged against him ¹.
Sankara faces allegations of running illegal drug centers disguised as hotels, engaging in prostitution and drug addiction activities ¹. The situation has ignited debate, with certain individuals advocating for harsh penalties, such as beheading, in accordance with Sharia law¹.
