On Friday, the naira lost value against the dollar in both the parallel and the official markets. In the parallel market, the naira fell from N1,595 to N1,640 per dollar. In the NAFEM, the naira dropped from N1,498.25 to N1,537.96 per dollar, according to FMDQ data. The naira fluctuated between N1,000 and N1,631 per dollar during the day, with a difference of N631 per dollar.
The dollar trading volume this week was $886.49 million, which was 59 percent lower than the previous week’s $2.16 billion.
The gap between the parallel and the official market rates increased to N102.04 per dollar today, from N96.75 per dollar on Thursday.
