The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has given the federal government a 14-day ultimatum to fulfil all the pacts it signed with the union in October 2023, or face a two-day national protest on February 27 and 28. The NLC, which comprises of various workers’ unions, said it was tired of the government’s inaction and delay.

The NLC president, Comrade Joe Ajaero, announced this after the union’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Friday. He said the workers were ready to embark on an indefinite strike if the government did not meet their demands within seven days after the protest. He called on the government to honour the agreement and respect the democratic rights of Nigerians who were suffering from hardship.
