Tension is on the loose as gunmen abduct former lawmaker and some others in Abuja hotel on Thursday the 23rd of June, 2021. Others are in shock at the unfortunate incident.
There is a lot of fear in the air as residents of Tunga Maje village near Zuba in Abuja are still in shock over the kidnap of Hon. Friday Sani Makama, Prince Frederick Adejoh and some other unidentified individuals, from their Hilltop Hotel lodge.
Makama, is a former lawmaker in the Kogi Assembly. He recently defected from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) while Prince Adejoh is the Oma Onu Aya of Igala land.
According to reports from eyewitnesses regarding the incident, the armed men shot sporadically into the air, causing security guards to run and hide for safety. The gunmen then whisked away some guests and the owner of the hotel.
Tunga Maje and the notorious Kaduna-Abuja highway is known to be a hideout for a lot of kidnappers and hoodlums.
Based on the findings concerning the unfortunate incident, the management of the hotel, has reported the incident to the police.
Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Police spokesperson, ASP Mariam Yusuf, who also confirmed the incident, noted the Command has launched manhunt on the abductors.
According to the Police spokesperson, they have vowed to carry out thorough investigation to ensure that the perpetrators are caught and severely dealt with.
She said in her statement: “The Command has launched a strategic operation to rescue the victims unhurt.”
Furthermore, it has also been discovered that joint security operatives have already started embarking on a major search to fish out the perpetrators.
At this point, the residents of the area have become extremely cautious because they fear that the gunmen may return. The police is aware of the stigma and fear such an attack can cause and has given the residents their word to secure the area and prevent such from happening again.
