Buhari Says the Imo Attack is an Act of Terrorism
Buhari says that the Imo attack is an act of terrorism and he has informed security agencies to be at alert and do all they can to ensure that the terrorists are apprehended.
President Muhammadu Buhari has identified the terrible assault on the police command headquarters and correctional facility in Owerri, the capital of Imo state, as a terrorist attack that needs to be brought to a halt.
According to Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, President Buhari has instructed security agencies to go after the perpetrators,
Based on the statement released by Garba Shehu, “President Muhammadu Buhari had condemned the bloody insurgent attack that happened at the Police Command Headquarters and the Correctional Facility in Owerri, Imo State, on Monday the 5th of April, 2021, referring to it as an act of terrorism.”
“In his reaction to the incident early on Monday, President Buhari praised the initial response by security guards and security agencies for preventing greater loss of life and the destruction of public property.”
“Buhari directed security and intelligence agencies in the state and the geo-political zone to fully mobilize and go after the terrorists, arrest them, and punish them mercilessly under the full weight of the law.”
“He also called for the best efforts to be made in capturing the prison detainees that fleed because many of them are believed to be deadly criminals.”
“President Buhari also appealed to members of the public to help the law enforcement agencies with any important information that could lead to the arrest of these criminals who orchestrated and carried out this despicable act.”
“He also urged members of the public to be alert because we all have a part to play in preserving our way of life and keeping it from disruption by terrorists and anarchists while the Federal Government will use every available tool at its disposal to confront and terminate this bare-faced anarchy.”
