Benue: Killers of Catholic Priest will be arrested – Ortom; The Governor spoke against the murdering of the Catholic Priest in Benue State.
The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom of has criticized the murder of Reverend Father Ferdinand Ngugban of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, located in Aye-Twar village in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State by gunmen.
According to reports, Rev. Father Ngugban was shot dead early in the morning on Tuesday the 23rd of March, 2021 after some gunmen stormed his community.
The Governor said in one of his statements sent to his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase described the attack as heartless and mindless.
Ortom was shocked and wondered why a harmless priest would be the target of armed killers.
The governor assured the people of Katsina-Ala and Sankera in general that his administration would make all the efforts it can to ensure that those responsible for the killing and other criminal attacks in that part of the state would be brought to justice.
“The Governor reiterates the resolve of his administration not to give the state over to criminals and encourages the Benue people to continually support security operatives by providing timely and useful information.
He also encouraged the people to stay strong and ensure they do their best to also stay safe as the total safety of everyone can’t be guaranteed since security operatives can’t be everywhere.
The family of the Reverend Father is deeply mourning the loss of their son and they need all the strength and support they can to heal from the incident.
Ortom is planning to put a lot of security measures into place. These measures will ensure that the State becomes safer for everyone such that crime can’t survive.
“The Governor, Mr. Ortom deeply sympathizes with the bereaved family and prays that God gives the soul of Reverend Father Ngugban rest eternally.”
Everyone is encouraged to lend the Governor a helping hand by providing information if anyone has information regarding the killers.
