NDLEA arrested a suspected notorious drug trafficker
NDLEA arrested a suspected notorious drug trafficker who hid cocaine in his suitcase.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested and detained a suspected notorious drug trafficker, Hassan Taiwo, with three parcels of cocaine concealed in a false bottom created in his suitcase.
The agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Mr. Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
He added that the suspect was arrested at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) by the agency’s operatives.
The statement maintained that preliminary investigations revealed that Hassan, who was intercepted at the E-Arrival hall of the MMIA over the weekend, upon arrival onboard Ethiopian airlines at 1:30 pm Friday, has been plying the illicit trade through the routes of the middle east for some time.
The Commander of the MMIA NDLEA Command, Ahmed Garba, was quoted in a statement that “The suspect came into Nigeria through Addis-Ababa, but he traveled to Addis-Ababa from Abuja.”
He added, “Upon a thorough search, we discovered another ticket on him while our findings also show that he has been carrying out his criminal trade through some Middle East countries.”
The suspect in question has been carrying out these crimes for a while now, and it was just a matter of time before the law would catch up with him.
The narcotic officers attached to a courier company in Lagos were said to have intercepted 500grammes of unaccompanied cocaine going to the United Arab Emirates and concealed inside the walls packed cartons containing clothes.
In another courier firm, the operatives also intercepted one kilogram of cannabis concealed in cream bottles going to the UAE, while 500 grams of ketamine hidden in artifacts and going to the US was also recovered from the same company in Lagos.
Another 480grammes of unaccompanied methamphetamine going to China was recovered from the same courier company.
Justice has taken its full course on this individual who has carried out illegal drug trafficking for so long.
This is a warning to all those who believe they can engage in crime and go scot-free.
