13 kidnapped victims rescued from bandits in Kaduna
13 kidnapped victims have been rescued from bandits in Kaduna by security personnel who acted on reports on an ongoing abduction.
Mr. Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, affirmed that the incident indeed took place while giving a statement released on Wednesday the 5th of May, in Kaduna.
“Troops have reported the rescue of 13 kidnapped persons from bandits in Gwagwada, Chikun Local Government Area.
“The 13 victims from Dutse, went to work at a farm called `Tanadi Farm’, which is located around Bakin Kasuwa in Gwagwada general area of Chikun Local Government Area.
“They were attacked by the bandits in the process.
“Troops on receiving credible intelligence of the abduction trailed the bandits to a forest near Bana village and engaged them in a gun duel. The 13 victims were thus rescued,” he said.
Furthermore, the commissioner said that after the operations, the troops discovered that before they arrived, the bandits had shot dead two volunteers.
According to him, the bandits also burnt down a church and stole from some houses in the area.
He said Gov. Nasir El-Rufai expressed his gratitude to the troops and commended them for the successful rescue operation.
He also expressed his sympathy while consoling the families of the deceased volunteers and prayed for the repose of their souls.
In addition, the Governor also extended his sympathy to the leadership and members of the church that was burnt down by the bandits.
“He directed the State Emergency Management Agency to conduct an immediate assessment of the damage,’’ Aruwan said.
According to the governor, they hope to rescue more kidnapped victims with the support of the security agencies and the timely action of the residents of Kaduna.
He urged everyone to be on alert and be careful to avoid becoming a victim.
