20-Year-Old Serial Rapist Arrested for Raping and Killing a Job Seeker
The arrest of a 20-year-old serial rapist Uduak Akpan was announced by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command because he raped, killed, and buried a job seeker named Inniobong Umoren.
The suspect had deceived and lured the innocent female applicant after she announced her need for a job on Twitter. She had also stated that her location was Uyo and she was willing to learn quickly on the job.
Akpan the rapist took advantage of her information and invited the victim for an interview. He then raped and killed her after which he buried her in a shallow grave in his father’s compound.
A friend of the victim raised an alarm on Thursday the 29th of April, 2021, when Inniobong did not return from a purported job interview.
According to the police statement on Sunday the 2nd of April, 2021:
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested one Uduak Frank Akpan, 20 years old for kidnapping, raping, and murdering one Miss Iniobong Umoren.
“On 30/04/2021, the Command received a report on the disappearance of the victim. Following available leads, men of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the Command, led by CSP Inengiye Igosi, consolidated on the initial great progress made by the DPO Uruan, SP Samuel Ezeugo, and arrested the perpetrator who confessed to having lured his victim to his house in the guise of giving her a job, but ended up sexually and physically assaulting her which led to her death.”
Furthermore, the suspect tried to cover his tracks, after he dragged and buried her in a shallow grave in his father’s compound.
According to reports, the victim who is now dead has been removed from the shallow grave and deposited at UUTH (University Of Uyo Teaching Hospital) for autopsy.
The suspect confessed to being a serial rapist who has owned up to the raping of other victims. He will be charged to court once the investigation is finalized.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Amienghene Andrew, cautioned youths and job seekers to be careful of the activities of scammers and other men who claim to help but have other ulterior motives.
Finally, he appreciated the efforts of the family on social media and other fighters of injustice. The commissioner also expressed his condolence to the family of the victim.
