Soldier Commits Suicide In Borno State
A soldier commits suicide in Borno State due to depression. It was gathered that he struggled with depression before deciding to take his own life.
On the 12th of April, the news was gathered that an army corporal serving in Borno State has reportedly ended his life after shooting himself.
While speaking on the incident, one of his colleagues serving with 212 Battalion, Maiduguri said that he believes the deceased must have killed himself due to depression.
The incident happened on Saturday the 10th of April, 2021 when the deceased was seen lying down close to his gun with a major gun wound to the head.
In Addition, the colleague also said, “Cpl Kila Jima from 152 Battalion, Banki on 10th of April, 2021 just took his personal rifle and shot himself dead without any prior warning or notice.
It was gathered that the soldier had shown some signs of depression before he decided to eventually take his life. The soldier did not exactly speak to anyone about what he was going through but rather kept everything inside. The built up emotions led to his decision to take his own life.
According to his colleague, he was one of the soldiers involved in counterinsurgency campaigns who have stayed more than the stipulated time in the theatre of operation.
His colleague also explained that the soldier who committed suicide showed a lack of interest in the job which showed subtle signs of depression.
Army authorities in Borno State are yet to give further information on how this news develops. The full details are yet to be disclosed because the case is still a very shocking one.
In other news, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has also declared that the missing Alpha jet that disappeared from the radar on Wednesday, March 31 while on a mission against Boko Haram has still not been found.
Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the NAF spokesperson made the announcements while responding to allegations that the Air Force was hiding some things about the missing jet.
