Gunmen kill Police Inspector and Kidnap 4 in Abuja; The police did their best to fight against numerous attacks by suspected kidnappers on Tuesday the 13th of April, 2021.
Some suspected kidnappers killed a Police Inspector, Ambi John, who was attached to Operation Puff Adder of the FCT Police Command, in addition to four people who were also kidnapped along the Angwan-Zegele-Zubw axis of the territory.
A press statement by ASP Marian Yusuf, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the command revealed that in the late afternoon of Tuesday, the FCT Police Command tried to ward off numerous attacks by suspected kidnappers in the early hours of Tuesday, the 13th of April, 2021, along Dankusa, Angwan-Zegele-Zuba axis.
According to the distress call from Angwan Zegele, a combined team of Police operatives from the Command and Operation Puff Adder responded quickly as they engaged the heavily armed hoodlums in a fierce gun battle.
“Unfortunately, one of the brave officers one Inspector Ambi John attached to Operation Puff Adder sustained serious gunshot injuries during the operation and was rushed to the hospital where he gave up the ghost while receiving treatment.”
Moving forward, the Command has launched a strategic operation to rescue four people abducted from Dankusa and that are still in the custody of the riffraffs who escaped into the forest bordering the FCT and Niger state. Nevertheless, operatives of the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad have arrested some suspects who may be in connection with the abduction.
Based on that context, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the command, CP. Bala Ciroma wishes to sympathize with the family of the officer who paid the ultimate price in serving the nation and ensuring that all the victims are safely reunited with their families.
Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police assured residents of the Command’s steadfast devotion to ensure that the lives and property within the FCT is secured.
