Queues are expected to diminish from Tuesday the 20th of April– NNPC GMD. The GMD is taking steps to ensure the queue at filling stations reduces.
The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, (NNPC) Mele Kyari, has assured Nigerians that the queues that have been building up in filling stations will start to reduce from Tuesday the 20th of April.
Mr. Kyari gave the assurance on Tuesday while briefing the State House reporters after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
He revealed that fuel queues across the country are certain to subside following an intervention by the NNPC to resolve the industrial action by petroleum tanker drivers against their employers over the problems of the payment compensation.
According to the GMD, the timely intervention by the NNPC has resulted in a friendly settlement between the concerned parties.
Consequently, the industrial action has been suspended for a period of one week to allow a proper resolution to the issues.
He again repeated that normal loading operations in all depots have started and trucks dispatched across the country.
Furthermore, regarding the issue of subsidy policy, he maintained that discussions are in progress between stakeholders to suggest a reasonable exit plan that would be beneficial to all Nigerians.

Govt Warns Against Deflection Of N2.9bn Ramadan Welfare Package: Zamfara
The Zamfara State government on Tuesday the 20th of April, 2021, warned stakeholders against the deflection of Ramadan welfare package worth N2.9billion.
Nasiru Magarya, the Chairman of the main committee, who is also the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, gave the warning while the distribution of the grains to local government chairmen in the state was ongoing.
He emphasized that the grains are for the poor and anyone caught stealing them will be made to face the wrath of the law.
“The grains are for those it was assigned to. It is for poor or less fortunate people.
Magarya said, “Anyone caught stealing the items or selling them, once reported will be made to face the wrath of the law.”
He said efforts have been put in place to ensure transparency and that the poor will enjoy the welfare packages.
Furthermore, Magarya added that the state Governor Bello Matawalle has purchased 450 trucks of foodstuffs and essential commodities for sharing to the public as Ramadan welfare packages for the less privileged, internally displaced persons, civil servants, and other members of the public.
He noted that the welfare packages will help in easing the hardship being faced by people to some extent, adding that it will enable them to carry out the Ramadan fast with ease and happiness.
