FG: Atiku part of those responsible for what Nigeria faces currently
FG: Atiku part of those responsible for what Nigeria faces currently because he also contributed to the bad economy when he was in power for 8 years.
The Presidency on Sunday, condemned the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, stating that he also the reason why Nigeria is facing an economic downturn.
Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, stated that what Atiku said about 30 million Nigerians not having jobs was not new information.
This statement from the special adviser was in response to the comments Atiku made regarding huge cases of unemployment in Nigeria and for saying that Nigeria is fast deteriorating into a failed state.
Atiku said he had never felt so bad at being proven right, as he is. From a report on Saturday, March 27, 2021, he said Nigeria is to come out as the country with the highest unemployment rate on Earth, at more than 33%.
“We warned about this, but the warnings myself and other patriots repeatedly warned about were mocked. And now this. We are at a cliff as a country and the truth is that all stakeholders and elder statesmen have talked on time, while Nigeria still exists to save.
“This government clearly lacks the ability to address our present challenges, and we must assist them, not because of the government, but because of our people.”
However, the Presidency disagreed by stating that Atiku was in power for eight years, saying that now that he is in the opposing party, one could not take whatever he said as the truth.
He said the question is “when Abubakar and President Olusegun Obasanjo were in power, where did they take the country? Where did they leave the country?”
Adesina added that he had watched clips on social media where Atiku mentioned some things they promised to do, specifically on power; and that some people collected some trillions for and didn’t deliver.
“The Former Vice-President is part of the decay the country has become. He cannot acquit himself; he cannot sit to judge anyone. He played his role for eight years and they left the country the same way they left it,” he said.
