Imo King Hits Okorocha With Stick Inside Air Peace Aircraft
Imo King Hits Okorocha With Stick Inside Air Peace Aircraft during a heated argument. the clash may have been due to the senator dethroning the king while in office.
It has been reported that a heated clash between the Obi of Obinugwu, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, and the immediate past Imo Governor, Rochas Okorocha, happened aboard an Air Peace flight to Abuja.
The information gathered was that the Obi, Ilomuanya hit the former governor who sat next to him with a stick in a heated argument.
Based on the reports, the airline crew, led by the captain, had to change the senator’s seat to prevent further violence.
Reason for the Clash
It has been gathered that Ilomuanya may be upset over his dethronement as the Imo Council of Traditional Rulers Chairman by Senator Okorocha.
Senator Okorocha had removed Ilomunaya as the traditional ruler in 2011 shortly after he assumed office as the governor.
The case started from the Federal High Court to the Court of Appeal, and finally to the Supreme Court.
Ilomunaya had accused Okorocha of been vengeful over a political decision the traditional rulers made before he became the governor.
He said: “I must confess I have no personal issues with Governor Rochas Okorocha. I have no other option but to respect and honor his person and office. This I have always done in the past, even though he deliberately attempts to dishonor me.
“But what I don’t agree with in all aspects is Governor Okoracha’s dictatorship tendencies. He is trying to play the god in Imo. This is not good for our people and the image of Imo state
Okorocha, who landed in a police station after an argument with an assistant of Governor Hope Uzodinma, last month, was involved in a fight with a monarch this time around.
Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, who was dethroned as the traditional ruler of the Obingwu community in Orlu council of Imo, saw the former governor Okorocha on the aircraft heading to Abuja from Owerri, Imo State capital.
Okorocha governed Imo between 2011 and 2019 but decided not to reinstate Ilomuanya despite a court order.
The heat really began after the former chairman of Imo State and South East Council of Traditional Rulers told Okorocha, who was sitting next to him, to get out of his sight.
An argument then started between the two of them but the situation became worse and graduated into a confrontation as the monarch was said to have hit the former governor with his walking stick.
